about
This is an Old English medieval charm against a wen, the creature believed to cause a swelling usually in the neck. It begins with importuning: don't make a home here, go live with your brother. Then it uses sympathetic magic, hoping it will shrink like 'coal on a hearth' until it is finally so small (smaller than a handworm's hip bone) that at last it is nothing at all.
